The Super Girlfriend and Her Amazing Healing Gums
I had a follow-up appointment with my oral surgeon today and he said that my gums are healing well and fast! They gave me a syringe to fill with warm water so I can squirt the water into my gummy holes to dislodge any food bits that may get stuck back there. My last follow-up is on June 11.
I bought a GoPhone from AT&T on Friday and it arrived yesterday. I decided to try putting my old SIM card in the phone to see if it would work before I "filled" it with prepaid minutes and it worked, so I didn't need any prepaid minutes after all! I gave Don the $25 prepaid card so he could "fill" his phone. I'm such a great girlfriend! My new phone is a piece of crap, by the way, but hopefully it'll let me converse with folks a bit more often than I was able to when I had no phone at all.
I have to give my first speech in my Public Speaking class tomorrow. The assignment is to give a 3-4 minute (give or take 30 seconds) speech that utilizes a prop and tells the class how to do something. I'm not done writing it yet, but it's called "How to Work Without Working", or something along those lines.
I'm going to see Ingrid Michaelson again in June! Woo! Phillip might come with me if he he either has the day off or works in the morning. He mainly wants to go because there will be girls there. Boys are so silly. Ingrid is awesome even if there are no girls.

I survived!
Mom took me to the oral surgeon's office yesterday morning, where we met grandmama so she could sit in the waiting room with me since mom and Christy both had appointments with our doctor. We were ~15 minutes early, so it felt like I had to wait FOREVER but it was probably only 15 minutes after my appointment when we got started. Once they took me back to the room, everything flew by! I was given "laughing gas" and strapped down so that I couldn't run away (actually, the cords were supposedly to monitor me while I was sedated).
I asked the doctor how this whole anesthesia process was going to go; I told him that I didn't want to be totally knocked out so he worked that out for me and everything went well. I wasn't asleep but I was extremely drowsy and mostly unaware of what was going on. Once he shot me up with medication, I was pretty doped up immediately, so I'm assuming that the extraction started just minutes after but I don't remember. I can remember hearing them talk during the extraction and hearing them cut my teeth, but that's about it. They let keep my teeth! I made sure to show them to grandmama; I think she enjoyed that. ;)
I was half asleep the whole way home and I was totally out for a few hours once we got home. When I woke up, I got dressed and mom and I went to the store to buy some juice, yogurt, pudding and sherbet. I love sherbet.

My cell phone was critically wounded by water last weekend and has not recovered. I'm not eligible for a phone upgrade until July 25, but I thought that maybe, just MAYBE, the AT&T minions would go ahead and let me upgrade. I've been able to upgrade a couple of months in advance before but, of course, they wouldn't let me this time. I was told that my only option was to call the device insurance company and pay $50 for a replacement phone...fugeddaboudit!
Since I'm phoneless I've been using my dad's phone to talk to Don on his "lunch" break every night. Don doesn't have a normal people cell phone plan, he decided to go with a GoPhone when his contract with AT&T was up. Thanks to Don, we can only talk if both of us are using phones that are on AT&T's network because he placed that restriction upon us. I blame Don for us not being able to talk, and not my lack of a cell phone, because if he were a normal person he'd have a 2-year contract and unlimited nights and weekends no matter who he called!! ;)
Luckily, mom found one Laura's very first cell phone and we think it still works, but we haven't found a charger for it yet so we don't know for sure. I'm going to check out Wal-Mart later to see if they have a charger for it.
My wisdom teeth are going to be yanked out next Friday. I'm looking forward to having the day off from work, but I'm kind of nervous about the whole general anesthesia thing.
